US President Strongly Supports Development in ASEAN

Phnom Penh: The United States president, Joe Biden has expressed to strongly aupport ASEAN development during the 9th ASEAN-US Summit on Tuesday evening attended by Prime Minister Hun Sen together with the other ASEAN leaders except Myanmar.

During the meeting, the ASEAN and US Heads of Government praised the progress and achievements of the ASEAN-US Strategic Partnership such as the Covid-19 fight by donating vaccines.

Biden has also expressed support on the promotion of economic development, increasing trade and investment. He has stated that the United States will provide an additional $102 million as a cooperation fund for ASEAN, and that they will continue to play a key role in ASEAN's regional cooperation, especially in the Indo-Pacific framework.

Apart from Biden's pledge to join the movement in providing solutions to climate change, the US president has also shared his views on Myanmar's current situation. The US and the ASEAN will celebrate its 45th partnership anniversary next year.
